Inter-Mennonite Church

The Congregation

Calgary Inter-Mennonite Church (CIM) was founded in 1976 as South Calgary Mennonite Brethren Church.  Since then several name changes reflected our leased locations in Calgary and our affiliation with Mennonite Conferences. The CIM congregation is now independently registered as a church (Society) in the Province of Alberta and owns the property at 1308 Edmonton Trail NE. CIM enjoys participation with other Mennonite Churches, many Mennonite agencies and institutions, the broader church community, as well as ecumenical charitable organizations.

The life of our congregation is guided by our understanding of the Christian faith in the Anabaptist and Mennonite tradition and we are revitalized by the ongoing revelation of God through scripture, the wonder of each person’s life experience and striving to learn the ‘Jesus Way’. Two scriptures have been especially important in the life of CIM:

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and…love your neighbor as yourself.  All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.’  Matthew 22:37 - 40.
‘And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’  Micah 6:8

The congregation of CIM is made up of all those who wish to worship together.  All are welcome. There is  no formal membership, however, our participation in this faith community reflects the values of commitment, community, and covenant. Members are invited to participate and serve when and where they are able; to declare their commitment to this faith community at our annual Celebration of Community; and to list their names and contact information in the annually revised church directory.

As much as possible the activities of the church are authorized by the will of the congregation. Congregational meetings are held frequently and information and questions are shared freely.

A budget for programs and costs is established by the congregation each year.  Financial support is through voluntary donations.
